The purpose of our Jazz Program is to teach jazz concepts, styles and improvisation.
There is one jazz band during the school day that meets both in the fall and spring semester. Membership is
by audition. In the spring semester, there are two more “zero period” jazz ensembles. Director’s Band is the
top Jazz Ensemble. The “B” Band is a training band that also attends festivals and performs concerts.
Students are assigned into positions in the various bands by audition. Ability, maturity and instrumentation
needs are considered. Performance attire is selected by students and director.
